For 2008, I didn’t do a performance report because I didn’t want to see how bad I did. However, I have gotten over that and will post my successes and failures all the time. So I know how harder I need to work or what needs to be done next. Sometimes it’s a pain in the ass to double check everything in your life but it’s well worth it so you don’t see any surprises later on in the future. That may end up making you work harder or do more work because you waited to the last minute.
Running a business is very difficult and you must make an effort to keep your business afloat. If you end up neglecting it, it will eventually fall.
Business Goals For The Year
1. Grow My Internet Business
Result: SUCCESS
I mentioned this goal on this blog post here. Welcome to my Make Money Online Guide Blog! I think this was my most important goal because if anything, I need to make an income online. It took many many months to get to where I am right now and that’s about $1,000 to $1,500 per month profit.
I’ve been working my ass off everyday and working so I get closer to my goals. I’ve been able to get my good habits in lately and start focusing on what really matters in my life instead of just hanging out and kicking it.
This still is my main goal and best of all I want to stick to making money online and not fall down and lose my money or lose making money online. I believe, this is by far the hardest part is keeping your business afloat.
2. Rank This Blog on Google, Yahoo & MSN.
Result: FAIL
This was a great goal of mine but however, I don’t think I plan on ranking this blog for make money online because for one it’s really just too competitive. I find that my time is better spent working on niche sites because it will in-turn make more money in the long run. The only reason, why I post on this blog is to keep a record of my history and work logs, etc. Keep all my notes and thoughts in one central location, so I can look at my progress and adjust my actions accordingly.
I believe it’s also very inspiring and motivational to take a look at your progress and beat your old goals and just to look and admire at how much you have accomplished. I’d highly recommend everyone creating their own blog even if it’s just to log your daily work or what not. It really helps, I think. This goal came from my post here I Want To Rank For Make Money Online.
3. Web Hosting Business – Goal of $3k-$10k/mo
Result: FAIL
During the beginning of the year this was a very big goal for me and I wanted to run a developed web hosting business. You can view the post here for this goal My Goals. The reason I choose this was because it has always been a goal for me when I was younger. I would research and read on how to build a web hosting business at the WebHostingTalk.com forums. I also wanted to build a datacenter someday.
However, running a web hosting business can be much stress because you have to deal with customers. If you aren’t very technical with computers it can also be hard to acquire hosting customers for your web hosting business. Many web hosting customers also want the lowest price possible with immediate tech support and they will pretty much ask you about anything under the sun.
I figured, this online business method was good but not for me. I didn’t want to deal with unhappy customers and I don’t have the technical knowledge as much as I’d like with knowing how to manage a Dedicated Server. I also found it very difficult to find customers because there are many corporate web hosting companies that offer very cheap web hosting services and many customers will try these first.
4. Watch TV/Movies Sites – $100 per day
Result: SUCCESS
In reality, I would consider this goal also a FAIL. However, I still believe I reached a decent amount of my goal. I was able to make $40-$80 per day from my TV and Movie websites. I’ve had a few $100 per day but it hasn’t been consistent. I do however, plan on increasing this tremendously. So for this case, I’ve considered this goal to be a success.
I plan on making many more TV and Movie websites this coming year and hope to bank a lot more from them. The starting of 2010, I also am now focusing on outsourcing a lot of work for leverage in increasing my income in a sooner time frame. I also have no other obligations besides focusing on creating money online and my mind is clear fresh and alert. I’m ready to kill it this coming year, I’m looking to save pretty much all my profits and keep rolling my money. I’d really like to save up $50,000 or more if possible.
5. Diet Blog $500-$1k/mo
Result: FAIL
This is one of my goals on the My Goals blog post. I would like this to be a successful goal because it would be great to have a blog in the health and fitness niche since I am working at home all day. I’d like to get myself in shape and also make another income from this niche.
I was working out and doing cardio throughout the year but not consistently for the whole year. I got lazy and things came up but those are all excuses. In reality, I just didn’t want it enough I guess you can say that or I just didn’t force myself to do it. I also had school so that was a problem. This year of 2010, I have no other obligations. This is going to be like the #2 or #3 goal for 2010 that I must accomplish.
6. Local Web Design Company
Result: FAIL
I also think this is a great goal for any internet entrepreneur. Being on the computer everyday and working with the tools we use. We are very experienced in creating and maintaing even driving traffic to our websites. If anyone, could help a small business or contract worker get a business website or personal website online. We are truly qualified for these positions. (My Goals)
The reason, why this goal was such a fail this year was because I didn’t have the interest in actively seeking clients to do web design for, I also didn’t have the money funds to really get one going even though the cost isn’t that high.
However, I still do want to accomplish this goal because I believe, it can make $1,000 to $3,500 per month. Also just in day-to-day interactions with other people. It’s very common to come across someone who needs a website made.
Things To Accomplish
1. Learn Unix/Linux
Result: FAIL
This was a very big goal during the beginning of the year. I thought it was very hard to make money online and was going The Real World route in finding a full-time job and making money so I can start some internet projects up. However, I was able to find my niche and section on the internet to make me a decent amount of money per month so I didn’t need to pursue this goal. – My Goals
2. Learn Web Design & CSS
Result: FAIL
I did a decent good job with this goal here. I learned how to make wordpress templates and design a better template. However, I wanted to learn how to design my own websites and other websites and improve my photoshop skills. However, I also thought this goal would slow my process in actually making more money. It’s better to hire people or use free wordpress themes than custom graphics. – My Goals
3. Learn PHP Programming
Result: FAIL
I thought this was an important goal to make money online. I made it a goal to learn some PHP and make my own scripts and websites. But I found out that learning PHP isn’t necessary in order to be successful online. It can help and will make you richer. But it isn’t needed to make money online. You can make just as much money not knowing PHP. I think the most important part is knowing who to hire when you need work done. This also requires, you have some capital. – My Goals
4. Get A-B’s for my School Classes
Result: FAIL
I completed some units for my college classes. Not as much as I would like to complete but I just find school very hard to finish. I guess, I’m not a school type person. I have stopped focusing on school and have been focusing on what truly matters to me and that’s making an income online. I plan on going back to school once everything is situated and my businesses are going strong. I will then start taking some classes so I can get my AA and then maybe take a break and figure out what I want to do. Depending on how I do with my internet projects, I may go to school within 6 months or start of next year once things are great. I don’t think it’s never too late to go back lol. I do see some guys at 26-28 or older going to college still. At least I’ll be having my business going strong. – My Goals
5. Save $20-$30,000 in the Bank
Result: FAIL
I have been saving majority of my money that I have been making. I haven’t started making money though since the last 5 or less months at the end of the year. I have saved a decent amount since when I started in January 2009. I’d save about 4-5 times what I did have at the time. This year, I definitely plan on saving about $20-$30k. I don’t want to be spending all my money
I think it’s better to save it now. – My Goals
6. $2,000/Mo Profit for Internet Businesses
Result: SUCCESS
This isn’t a full success, however. I like to consider it success because I’m at around $1,500 profit per month. It’s almost there
. – My Goals
7. Work Daily
Result: SUCCESS
I’ve been working daily for like 5 or so months so far and will continue working everyday for 2010. I plan on even working harder and longer for everyday. I want to wake up at 5am and be getting work done. – My 2009 New Years Resolution
8. Be Productive & Smarter
Result: SUCCESS
I believe, this has been a success because I was able to pull myself out of the year and make things better during the last few months of 2009. I believe, I have a better head on my shoulders and 2010 is going to be an amazing month. – My 2009 New Years Resolution
9. Get Healthy & Fit – Gain 30-40 lbs of muscle.
Result: FAIL
This goal was definitely a FAIL. I did workout part of the year but nothing significantly maybe 3-4 months out of the 12 months. I plan on having this goal also for 2010. I plan on getting in shape and start making money from a health and fitness website. – My 2009 New Years Resolution
10. Become A Full-Time Webmaster and Blogger – $2k-$4k/mo
Result: SUCCESS
I am full-time webmaster and blogger again. I am now focusing on expanding my business by hiring more helpers and working harder to make more websites so I can increase my monthly income. I was able to hit around $1,500 per month for 2009 during the end months. – My 2009 New Years Resolution
11. Improve My Computer Skills – PHP, Photoshop.
Result: FAIL
I didn’t really learn a whole much with computers this year basically if anything I learned a little more on how to make money online. I don’t believe PHP or photoshop skills are really needed to make money online. It’s very possible to make money online with basic computer skills. – My 2009 New Years Resolution
12. Save Money for Profits – $20,000 saved.
Result: FAIL
This is a great goal and I wish I knew about it all throughout the year. I’m pretty sure, I forgot about it. However, I did manage to save up 3-4x times the amount of money I did have at the beginning of the year. I’m hoping for 2010 I can break this goal and save up around $50,000 for the year. – My 2009 New Years Resolution
13. Get a 35k full-time technical position.
Result: FAIL
The amount of effort and learning you have to do, is tremendous. I was highly thinking of getting a full-time job on the internet. Also a full-time goal in reality, will actually move me farther away from my original goal of working on the internet and being at home. Majority of time, getting a full-time job, what ends up happening is that you will become their work slave. You will always trade your hours for dollars and nothing will be residual. – What I’m Going To Do Now
January 2009 I made a total income of $77.13 for the month and had expenses at $149.02. So I had a -$71.89 for the month. I’ve made a tremendous goal of about $1,000 per month now at December 2009. I didn’t accomplish a whole lot but I did do a little bit. I think I did very well and I’m proud to say that 2010 will be much better.
