Learn CSS

Posted by Paul Morales as HTML & CSS Tips

CSS is the second most important internet programming language on the internet. It works only in conjunction with HTML. It’s a secondary .css page that is included within an HTML page. So your probably wondering what CSS is already.

CSS was created to work with HTML pages to create great looking websites and nice effects with using less HTML code so file page size could be smaller. CSS can control the text font, color, size, border, width, etc. It can also add great things like backgrounds, margins, padding and much more for a website. With CSS, you save time by writing less HTML Code in your HTML page.

What is CSS?

CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets it’s a great tool to save work and time when creating HTML pages. CSS is a lot more fun and exciting than writing HTML. Think of HTML as making stick figure character and CSS is making it a 3D character. To understand CSS, it’s recommended you learn HTML first then learn CSS. CSS will take longer to learn than learning HTML. It’s a little more complex because it has a lot more effects.

How long does it take to learn CSS?

I believe, CSS will take about 2-3 days to fully understand working about 4-6+ hours a day. The more time you spend the better you will get just as in anything else in life.

It’s a little more complex then HTML and I highly recommend you learn CSS. You really can’t get too far in the internet world without learning CSS. CSS is now standard in website design and creation.

How can I learn CSS?

There are many websites that you can study and learn CSS on. Like most of what I say, Search google for “learn css” or “css tutorials” these are all great articles because this is what the internet community says is best. There’s really no point in re-writing an article that’s already been said on many websites.

How I learned CSS?

I learned CSS by first reading on learn CSS and CSS tutorials on Google searches. I’ll simply just open up each one in a new tab and just read everything for like 3-4 hours and just absorb all the information I can. Somehow figure out the gist of everything they’re talking about and figure out a pattern that I can understand it on. The great thing is that you always have Google to help you, so you don’t need to remember the exact code or technique because when you need to use it. You can just search Google and find out the answer or code you need.

Once I understand the basics of CSS. I started by creating my own web design template in Photoshop and I learned how to slice my .PSD web design template into different images and created a CSS file with a template.html file. Google Search, Slice PSD to CSS or psd to css tutorial.
