Make Money Online with Directory Websites
One thing I’ve been noticing more often when trying to build backlinks for websites is that you should submit your websites to free web directories to get backlinks.
I’ve also noticed in the process you can find many free web directories to submit your website too. There are some websites that charge for premium positions and/or a single link in general.
Creating Your Own Web Directory
You can create your own web directory by purchasing a domain name and using a free or paid script that you can install on your web host.
It’s best to create your a nice design or buy a nice template or design that will make your web directory enjoyable for other people to submit their websites too.
Making Money From Your Web Directory
You can charge a one-time fee or a monthly fee if your directory is very popular. You can also charge added advertisements on different spots on your website.
There are different ways to charge your users for different placements. They range from Featured Listings, Regular Listings, Reciprocal Listings.
Featured Listings – These are usually on the top of category pages and receive the most traffic and notice.
Regular Listings – These are just the basic and regular listings.
Reciprocal Listings – These listings you will have to link back to the web directory to give them a backlink on your website.
Advertisements are another method of making money through a web directory. You can charge private advertisements on your blog or you can choose to install contextual ads such as adsense, ypn, adbrite, etc.
Getting Traffic and Building Google PageRank
Getting traffic to your web directory is the hardest part. You will not get many sales if your directory is not popular or you lack a decent amount of backlinks.
You should work on getting and building your web directory to be a success. It might be a wise choice to pick a small niche or local niche area that you can work with. It can be a lot easier and because of your domain name it may rank better on the search engines for your niche.
Part of your efforts for getting it popular is promoting it relentlessly.

Every blogger made $0 for the first months or years before they started making ridiculous amounts of money.
Traffic is the key for any website. I think anybody can create a website, the hard part is getting people to the website.
